A French master caricaturist, the current lot exemplifies Honore Daumier's unparalleled penchant for scathing satire and legal humor.  These colored etchings / engravings satirize the lives of corrupt lawyers and crooked judges, and Honore Victorin Daumier (1808-1879) combines simplistic compositions with exaggerated, dramatic figural expressions to lend a poignant depth to each.
